Hi I am Harry and in Term 3 week 8 we went to our school camp for the year this camp was in Wainui so it was about an hour and a half drive on a bus there when we got there we sat out on the green grass and the camp leaders introduced themselves and told us what to do and not what to do ( The rules ) the reason why we went was so we could learn some outdoor skills because we didn’t really do that sort of thing at school there were a lot of activities to complete and try to complete for example hard was abseiling.
After they had explained what the rules were we went to our cabins with our groups on the outside they looked like a wooden cabin from Friday the 13th but when we got inside it was pretty nice there were three bunk beds and one single bed I got into our cabin first so I got to pick which bed I was in I chose the top bunk of a bed in the right corner in our room. Then we had to get ready for are first activity.
In our first activity we used communication we split up into groups of two and one person in the group got a walkie talkie so we could communicate are objective was to find a mannequin named bob and look for his belongings he lost along the way I was with my friend Daniel and we found a lot of things including a yoga mat I don’t know why he would a yoga mat in a forest we eventually heard on the radio *we found him* We had to make a stretcher out of the stuff we found there and carry him to the kitchen.
On our final day we had our last activity high ropes in this we used collaboration we got into groups of four then they told us about the roles there was the bilayer, back up bilayer, and rope manager I was backup bilayer most of the time and I was good at as well sometimes I had to be backup bilayer and rope manager at the same time then when we finished that we went to dinner. That night we had nachos then when we went to bed we woke up the next day and went.
Back to christchurch I am going to use these skills in real life I don’t communicate well but this helped me and I will use collaboration at home.
